A viable world of justice and solidarity.
A viable world, where conditions allow sustainability and development.
A principle of sustainable development: A situation is ” viable ” if economic and ecological conditions are guaranteed in the long term.
A just world, based on justice and equity.
In both interpersonal relationships and international relations, the rights and interests of all must be recognized and respected.
A world of solidarity, which recognizes that our interests are shared.
We live on this Earth, in our societies and in our communities together. A commitment to solidarity is a commitment to seek out a community and international dynamic that recognizes that the prosperity and happiness of some does not negate the prosperity and happiness of others. On the contrary, we seek to develop them together.
Proof of SUCO’s focus on this value is evident in the first letter of its acronym. Solidarity is at the core of the relationship between its mission and the concerns that drive it. Firm believers in the advantages and benefits that come from partnerships, we work to maximize North-South/South-South strategic alliances and mutual contributions. We want to stimulate openness to partnership networks that promote different points of view and experiences and expand the bases of sustainable development.
SUCO works to combat inequalities and exclusions of any kind. We value social relationships based on trust and mutual respect, which are essential to knowledge sharing, social peace and individual and community well-being. Our approach is flexible and respectful of the people who make up our organization, just as it is of all other parts of society, here and abroad.
SUCO has turned this value into its mantra. We place citizen participation, respect for the interests of social groups and collective management at the source of any development initiative by ensuring that everyone participates in decision-making, acts and takes ownership with full knowledge of the common goals. Our long-term vision is autonomy for those communities receiving organizational, technical and economic support, all the while respecting social and environmental issues. Dialogue, transparency and the effective circulation of information are essential components of accountability and constructive democratization.
For SUCO, women and men must live with dignity because they are equal and they must have the same rights and privileges. In order to achieve this, we work to establish conditions for the practice of gender equality, to make women’s needs and interests “visible” and to ensure the full participation of women as key partners throughout the process of transforming society both socially and economically.
SUCO believes in respecting the commitments made as part of its mission, as it believes in communities respecting their commitments with respect to their development. We favour the establishment of professional ethics based on clearly defined roles and functions, accountability and alignment of priorities with those of the country and region in question as well as local public institutions or civil society organizations working for the well-being of communities. We make every effort to increase the effectiveness of aid and to manage human, financial, material and environmental resources wisely.
Respect for Diversity
In its actions, SUCO recognizes and takes into account the diverse manifestations of identity, culture and knowledge of the communities in which it operates.
SUCO Also Promotes Sharing Experiences
Experiences in international development also deserve to be recognized and shared, as they spring from investments made by men and women in their collective future. We believe that it is necessary to develop knowledge and best practices, not just to take advantage of them ourselves but also to share them with other organizations. This is why innovative practices, lessons learned from different approaches, methodologies and actions that deliver results will be considered out of a concern for sustainability and reproducibility of knowledge and skills.
